According to FAO, the area of arable land occupies Ukraine 9 in the world. This was during a meeting of the Coordinating Council on combating land degradation and desertification said Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine Semerak.
“Ukraine is the 44 th area continental country in the world. At the same time, according to FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations – order.), the area of arable land we use 32,5 million hectares, and thus ranks 9 in the world”, – the Minister.
According to him, the area of arable land Ukraine is second only to India, RF, USA, China, Brazil, Australia.
“That, the level of tilled area – it almost 54%, and we occupy one of the highest on this indicator in the world”, – said Semerak.
